Hi Shawn,

Backing up the DNS Configuration...

Use the Webtool and backup the DNS configuration only. Then restore it to the new box with the Webtool.

or do this...

Turn off lids.
lidsadm -S -- -LIDS

Stop the named daemon.
/etc/init.d/named stop

Copy everthing in the /var/chroot/named directory to some offline storage. Possibly like this:
tar cvf /dev/fd0 /var/chroot/named
